AvanceAgri connects Africa's smallholder farmers to fair prices, input financing, and markets they never thought they could access. We empower youth, lift incomes, and build a food system that works from the ground up.
The Most Powerful Asset We Have
While other startups are building their first farmer relationship, our co-founder has spent close to 6 years running commercial aggregation operations on the ground in Ghana and Uganda. He didn't observe this industry from a distance. He built sourcing networks from zero, negotiated with buyers, managed last-mile logistics on difficult roads, and delivered 18 to 22 percent commercial margins in real markets with real farmers.
He has worked with every type of farmer: smallholders on less than 2 hectares, women cooperatives, youth outgrowers, and large commercial operators. He knows which crops move, which buyers pay reliably, which roads are passable at harvest, and which farmer relationships are worth building for the long term.
"Investors fund evidence. Our co-founder is the evidence. Everything AvanceAgri is building is grounded in what he already proved in the field."
Who We Are
AvanceAgri is an agricultural aggregator. We sit between smallholder farmers and the markets they cannot reach alone. We buy produce at fair, pre-agreed prices. We provide input financing so farmers can plant without waiting for cash. And we connect them to premium buyers who have never had access to reliable, traceable, local supply.
We are not a consulting firm. We are not a software company. We are operators with close to 6 years of proven aggregation experience across Ghana and Uganda, field-built networks, and a model that development finance institutions fund because it genuinely works. Our co-founder has worked with every kind of farmer: smallholders, youth, women cooperatives, outgrowers. He knows the land, the buyers, and the roads between them.
The Opportunity
Uganda's agricultural economy runs on smallholder farmers. They produce over 70% of the country's food. Yet most of them sell to local middlemen at prices that barely cover costs, never access the premium buyers who would pay two to three times more, and cannot afford the inputs they need to scale. The problem is not a lack of supply or demand. The gap is between where food is grown and where it needs to go, and the capital shortage that keeps farmers stuck.
Our Model
We do not build farms. We connect them to markets. Our model has three integrated pillars that work together to transform how smallholder farmers access capital, inputs, and buyers. Every pillar feeds the others.
We buy directly from registered smallholder partners at fair, pre-agreed prices, eliminating the intermediaries who capture 40 to 60 percent of farm-gate value. We grade, sort, and package to buyer specification, then connect produce to premium buyers who have never had reliable access to local supply.
The capital gap is the single biggest barrier between smallholder ambition and agricultural output. AvanceAgri advances seeds, feed, and fertilizer before the season at cooperative rates. Guaranteed buyback closes the loop so farmers plant knowing exactly what they will earn.
Africa's average age is 19. Its future depends on whether young people see farming as a path forward and not a last resort. The AvanceAgri Youth Farmer Accelerator removes every barrier that stops young people from entering agriculture: no land, no capital, no market access, no knowledge. We fix all four.
Community Impact
At AvanceAgri, impact is not a footnote. It is the business model. Every kilogram aggregated, every input financed, every youth farmer onboarded creates measurable economic opportunity for the communities we serve, starting with those who need it most.
🚣 Empowering Women
Women smallholders grow under contract with AvanceAgri. We buy back directly at guaranteed prices so their land becomes income and their income becomes family stability. No middlemen cutting into their margin.
Women often face the steepest barriers to credit. Our input financing model requires no collateral and no credit score. All it takes is enrollment in the outgrower program. Seeds, fertilizer, and advance payments flow directly to women-led farms.
Minimum 40% of all outgrower contracts go to women-led farms, with priority input access, technical support, and guaranteed offtake built into every agreement. Not a soft goal. A hard commitment.
Aggregation hubs, logistics coordination, quality control, and farmer relations are leadership roles actively filled by women across all AvanceAgri operations. A hiring commitment, not a talking point.
Women manage household budgets. When farmers earn more and local supply is consistent, market prices stabilize. AvanceAgri's aggregation model directly reduces the price volatility that hits households hardest.
Women as suppliers, in the workforce, in leadership, and as beneficiaries of fair pricing. AvanceAgri is designed from the ground up to meet DFC 2X Women's Initiative criteria across all five dimensions.
👨🏾💻 Investing in Youth
AvanceFarm, our digital farm management platform, needs trained operators. We partner with local institutions to build digital and agronomy skills in young Ugandans, creating careers in modern agriculture that did not exist before.
Young people want to build something but lack land and capital. Our accelerator provides land facilitation, input financing at zero upfront cost, mentorship from experienced outgrowers, and guaranteed buyback. Ambition becomes a running farm business.
We commit to prioritizing under-30 hires from local communities across all roles: aggregation hub staff, logistics coordinators, quality control agents, farmer relations officers, and platform support.
UN SDG Alignment
Our operations map directly to the Sustainable Development Goals that matter most to development finance institutions.
Our Capabilities
Our co-founder spent close to 6 years building commercial aggregation operations in Ghana and Uganda: farmer sourcing networks, quality control protocols, and last-mile logistics. He achieved 18 to 22 percent commercial margins in the field. Not theory. Documented results.
We advance capital to farmers before they plant. Guaranteed buyback locks in the return. The capital gap that traps smallholders in low-yield cycles disappears, replaced by a structured financing relationship that works for both sides.
Pre-season price agreements. Transparent terms. No surprises at harvest. Our farmers know exactly what they'll earn before the first seed goes in the ground. Trust is the foundation of every outgrower relationship we build.
Digital farm tracking, yield data, input distribution records, and payment transparency all in one platform. Enterprise-grade reporting for development finance partners and accessible tools for farmers in the field.
Every program pillar is designed to be accessible to first-time young farmers. Low barrier to entry, high path to growth. The Youth Farmer Accelerator removes every obstacle: land, capital, market access, and knowledge, all in one structured cohort.
US citizen founders, Delaware incorporated, development impact metrics tracked from Day 1. Clear US nexus. Women and youth inclusion are built into operations from the ground up, not added on after the fact. Every DFC requirement is substantive, not nominal.
Our Vision
We are not building a single aggregation point. We are building a replicable model tested in Uganda and ready to deploy across the continent. The same operational playbook, the same technology, the same farmer-first principles. New geography, same results.
Ground zero. 500+ farmers. First aggregation cycles. Model proven in the field.
Expand into Kenya, Rwanda, and Tanzania. Replicate the Uganda playbook with local adaptation.
Enter high-impact markets — including the DRC when conditions allow. The need is vast and we'll be ready.
AvanceAgri becomes a continental aggregation platform, advancing smallholder Africa from within at scale.

Close to 6 years of commercial aggregation, not as an observer or consultant but as an operator. Built farmer sourcing networks in Ghana and Uganda from zero. Ran grain quality control protocols. Managed last-mile logistics in challenging conditions. Negotiated directly with buyers. Delivered 18 to 22 percent commercial margins in the field.
Has worked with every type of farmer: subsistence smallholders, women cooperatives, youth outgrowers, and large commercial operators. Knows which crops move, which buyers pay reliably, and which roads are passable at harvest. Currently on the ground in Uganda activating the Phase 1 network.
The Revenue Side
Aggregation without buyers is speculation. Aggregation with buyers is infrastructure. AvanceAgri is targeting buyers across seven categories in Uganda and East Africa, all with a demonstrated need for reliable, quality-graded, locally sourced supply that the fragmented smallholder market currently cannot deliver.
Kampala's growing hotel sector needs consistent, quality fresh produce and grain supply. Premium buyers, USD-denominated contracts, and repeat volume make this the ideal first buyer category.
Grain processors, flour millers, and food manufacturers need reliable bulk input supply. High-volume, recurring purchase contracts are the backbone of aggregation revenue.
East Africa is a net exporter of several commodities. Exporters need aggregators who can guarantee volume, quality, and traceability. AvanceAgri's documentation and platform deliver exactly that.
Uganda's brewing industry (Nile Breweries, Bell Lager) sources significant sorghum and barley locally. Brewery supply contracts are long-term, volume-stable, and strategically valuable.
Uganda's national school feeding program and NGO-run nutrition programs are major purchasers of locally sourced grain and produce. Government-backed volume with development finance appeal.
WFP, USAID, and major NGOs operating in Uganda increasingly source food locally (WFP's Purchase for Progress model). AvanceAgri is positioned to be a certified local supplier.
Nakumatt, Carrefour, and local Ugandan retail chains are expanding and need reliable, consistent local produce suppliers who can meet quality and packaging standards. A premium buyer category that elevates the entire value chain.
